Description

Ursolic acid (also known as urson, prunol, malol, or 3-beta-3-hydroxy-urs-12-ene-28-oic-acid) is a lipophilic pentacyclic triterpenoid found in apples, other fruits, and many plants, including some folkloric herbal medicines for diabetes.

Ursolic acid has been shown to have antitumor and antioxidant properties, and it has been shown to have antioxidant action. Ursolic acid may play an essential role in regulating apoptosis caused by high glucose levels, presumably by scavenging ROS. (reactive oxygen species). Recently, it was discovered that ursolic acid treatment impacts cancer cell growth and apoptosis.

Ursolic acid can be used as a starting substance for the synthesis of more powerful bioactive derivatives, such as antitumor agents in trials.
