Description
Sildenafil belongs to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. It is prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction (male impotence). It aids in achieving and maintaining a sufficient erection for sexual activity. When a man is sexually aroused, it allows more blood to flow into the penis. It only stimulates sexual desire and does not increase sexual desire. Sildenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation to treat erectile dysfunction. An erection can result from increased blood flow. Sildenafil alleviates PAH by relaxing blood vessels in the lungs, allowing blood to flow freely.
