Description
Carnosine (beta-alanyl-L-histidine), featuring the characteristic Imidazole-ring, is a dipeptide molecule, made up of the amino acids beta-alanine and histidine. It is highly concentrated in muscle and brain tissues. It has been proven to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), as well as alpha-beta unsaturated aldehydes formed from peroxidation of cell membrane fatty acids during oxidative stress. It is also a zwitterion, a neutral molecule with a positive and negative end.
L-Carnosine is used to prevent aging and for preventing or treating complications of diabetes such as nerve damage, eye disorders (cataracts), and kidney problems. The specific uses of l-carnosine include support for the skin, joints, digestive system and memory.
Our L-Carnosine (CarnoShineTM) is generated from alanine and histamine by using patented enzymatic process. The process enables the delivery of economically feasible peptides to the industry, and will also completely avoided carcinogenic risk of hydrazine hydrate resultant (potential risk of chemical synthesis process).
Benefits of L-Carnosine:
- Antioxidant Properties: L-Carnosine is known for its antioxidant capabilities. It helps protect cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals.
- Anti-Aging Effects: Some research suggests that L-Carnosine may have anti-aging properties. It may help to reduce glycation, a process that can lead to age-related damage in the body.
- Brain Health: There’s evidence to suggest that L-Carnosine can benefit brain health. It may help in protecting against neurodegenerative disorders and improving cognitive function.
- Muscle Endurance and Performance: In athletes and physically active individuals, L-Carnosine can enhance muscle endurance and performance, primarily due to its role in regulating muscle pH and acting as a buffer against lactic acid accumulation.
Applications and Main Usage:
- Dietary Supplements: L-Carnosine is widely available as a dietary supplement. It’s often marketed for its anti-aging and antioxidant properties, as well as for boosting brain health and athletic performance.
- Cosmetic Products: Due to its potential anti-aging effects, L-Carnosine is sometimes included in cosmetic formulations, such as anti-aging creams and serums.
- Medical Research: L-Carnosine is the subject of ongoing research in various medical fields. Scientists are exploring its potential in managing conditions like diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, and cardiovascular health.
- Sports Nutrition: It’s commonly found in sports nutrition products, targeting muscle performance and recovery.
